General description of the warehouse:

Class A warehouse complex with a total area of 10,000 m2 with a room height of 8,700 mm. It is a specialized warehouse that complies with all current standards and requirements for objects of this class.

The warehouse has the necessary engineering systems to ensure the safety, reliability and efficiency of its operation:

  Lighting and ventilation meet the requirements of sanitary and hygienic standards and provide comfortable working conditions for personnel.

  The temperature conditions of the warehouse are maintained in accordance with the requirements for the storage of pharmaceuticals. For this purpose, air conditioning systems and monitoring of temperature and humidity in the warehouse are used.

  The presence of a video surveillance and access control system allows you to ensure the safety of storage of goods and protect them from theft and damage.

The warehouse complex also has appropriate equipment that allows for various types of warehouse activities:

  The chamber with a temperature regime of +2°C to +8°C is intended for storing goods that require controlled temperature conditions, in particular thermohaline drugs.

  The high-security chamber is designed for the storage of psychotropic drugs and provides additional security, limited access and is equipped with an appropriate security system.

The warehouse is divided into several zones according to the type of storage. Each zone has its own characteristics, equipment and operating mode. Dividing the warehouse into zones according to the type of storage allows increasing the efficiency of the warehouse. Thanks to this division, warehouse space can be used as efficiently as possible, and the processes of storage and selection of goods are optimized. In addition, various areas are equipped specifically for storing certain categories of goods, which allows providing the necessary conditions and requirements for their safety and security. All this together allows to increase the efficiency of the warehouse, speed up the processes of selection and assembly of goods, and also minimize the risks of damage or loss of goods.

Functional division of a warehouse into warehouse zones is an approach in which the warehouse is divided into different zones according to certain functional characteristics, such as type of product, frequency of requests for goods, type of storage, etc. This allows efficient use of warehouse space, facilitates and speeds up inventory management processes, reduces the time of searching and moving goods and reduces the number of errors in the order processing.

When setting up functional zones in WMS, the following mandatory settings were taken into account:

  Setting up product types: in the WMS system it was necessary to create and configure product types, this allows to correctly distribute products into functional areas in accordance with their requirements for storage conditions and other parameters.

Setting up functional zones: each functional zone has been configured in the WMS system, its name was entered, the type of goods that are stored in the zone, the quantity and units of measurement of goods, and storage conditions.

Setting up warehouse operations: In the WMS system, to set up all the warehouse operations that are performed in each functional area, such as receiving, selection, inventory, preparation for shipment, etc.

Setting up access rights: For each functional zone, to set up access rights for users by defining who has access to the zone and what rights the user has to perform operations in the zone.

Setting up an accounting system: In the WMS system, it was necessary to configure the accounting of goods in each functional area, including the number of goods that are in the warehouse, the number of goods that are in the process of being processed, and the number of goods that are ready for shipment.

Setting up a reporting system: The WMS system was set up to reports that will display data for each functional area, including the number of products that are stored in the zone, the number of products that have been received and shipped, and statistics on the performance of the zone.

Configuring all of these required settings for each functional area to ensure efficient inventory management, speed up order processing and improve overall warehouse productivity.

The configuration of storage bins allows optimizing the use of space in the warehouse and ensure optimal access to goods. Determining the standard sizes of warehouse spaces and their physical properties allows to correctly plan the warehouse space, determine the location and storage of goods in the warehouse, and also increase the efficiency of warehouse personnel.

To effectively manage a large number of storage bins, it was necessary to define the basic parameters in the WMS system that characterize their physical and logical properties. These options include:

  -dimensions of the storage area;

 – load capacity;

 – storage type;

  -possibility of mixing goods;

  -possibility of mixing batches;

 – sorting index sorting of storage locations in selection/placement/inventory tasks.

  -Linking the goods to the storage location (static storage);

Using these parameters allows to more effectively manage tasks for the selection, placement and inventory of goods, as well as reduce the time it takes to find the right place and product.

In order to effectively manage warehouse operations and ensure accurate and timely shipments, each physical location in the warehouse was entered into the WMS. This allows to manage inventory in the warehouse, track the movement of goods and distribute tasks among warehouse employees. To simplify and speed up the process of identifying and searching for storage space, standard storage bin markings are used.

Each location is marked with a location label with a barcode, and the barcode contains the location name (CODE 128; CODE 39). To mark storage locations, polypropylene labels measuring 100mm*80mm are used.

For cells of the upper levels, markings are made both on the shelving beam under the cell and on the lower beam – this solution allows abandoning the use of TSD with a long scanning range.

Further cooperation and customer support
